I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Dance from San Francisco State University and my Master’s degree from Antioch University in Santa Barbara. I am a licensed therapist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals and families as they navigate life’s complexities.
My practice focuses on trauma, ADHD, and mood disorders, while also providing support for parenting challenges and relationship stress.
I strive to create a safe space for therapeutic discussion and exploration of feelings.
I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can finally exhale. I strive to create an environment that is supportive, honest, and free of judgment; a place where you feel truly seen and emotionally safe. My approach is collaborative and practical. I don’t just help you understand why you feel the way you do; I help you build real tools to navigate it.
I earned my degree from Cal State Fullerton and have extensive experience working in addiction treatment, eating disorder recovery, and women’s issues. Supporting women is especially meaningful to me. I am deeply passionate about helping women navigate challenges related to self-worth, body image, relationships, boundaries, life transitions, and identity. I understand how trauma, societal expectations, and relational dynamics can shape how women see themselves, and I approach this work with both compassion and clarity.
Together, we focus on strengthening mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and communication skills in ways that feel realistic and sustainable. I blend insight-oriented exploration with concrete strategies, because meaningful change happens when insight meets action. My goal is to help you better understand your patterns, feel more confident managing your emotions, and move forward with greater clarity, self-trust, and resilience.
I am an African American woman with over 32 years of experience providing social service and therapeutic support to marginalized families who have experienced trauma — from Criminal Justice involvement, Adult and Child Protection systems, to housing insecurity, intimate partner violence and substance use challenges. I also have a deep passion for working with pregnant and postpartum individuals navigating pregnancy loss, perinatal mood disorders, leading to postpartum depression and anxiety. It is also important for me to hold space for Fathers who are navigating raising children as single fathers.
My therapeutic approach creates a safe, compassionate space where we partner together to challenge unhealthy beliefs, reduce shame and guilt, and address traumatic experiences at whatever pace feels right for you.
While my work is primarily centered with the BIPOC community — African American women specifically — it is my goal that no individual ever feel alone when dealing with depression, anxiety, or trauma. Through active listening and gentle, honest dialogue, I partner with individuals to uncover what is keeping them stuck and walk through those hard places together — building trust, fostering resilience, and creating a real sense of freedom for themselves and their families.

Carolyn is driven by a vision to create a kinder humanity—one nervous system at a time. She believes therapy provides a space to explore safety in an uncertain world by fostering awareness of the connection between the heart, intuition, and the nervous system. Carolyn understands that while the nervous system doesn’t lie- judgments, perceptions, and assumptions can leave individuals feeling stuck, misunderstood, or exhausted.
I earned a double Masters in Clinical Psychology and Public Administration from the University of San Francisco. I have a B.S in Kinesiology and spent over 5 years working in Exercise Science/Fitness for the YMCA of SF. I am part of the Polyvagal Equine Institute (PVEI) community-spent the last 5yrs training in equine therapy. I have over 20yrs experience teaching dance, yoga & mindfulness.
Outside of work, Carolyn nourishes her own nervous system by walking in nature, swimming, practicing yoga, horseback riding, reading, and spending quality time with her family and her partner. She is also the co-host of a podcast with her longtime best friend, where they explore current events through a clinical and social services comedic lens.
Welcome! Most of us have areas that need healing and behaviors that we want to change, but we don’t know where to begin. As a psychotherapist, my goal is simple: I want to give you the tools and insights you need to live a happier and more fulfilling life. I will partner with you in your emotional journey, empower you to look at your history and gain insight into how the past impacts you today.
What draws me to this field is getting to work so closely with people to assist them in becoming the best versions of themselves. I obtained by BA in Psychology from San Diego State and my MA in MFT from Hope International. I had years of experience in community mental health, schools, and private practice. I have also worked with an array of demographics and cultures. Being a witness to my clients growing and thriving is the motivation that keeps me on this path today.
